Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com With its twin tail, the F-15 Eagle is probably the most recognizable military jet fighter in the skies today, and is undoubtedly the most successful jet fighter of all time, having never been shot down in combat. Flown not only by the US Air Force but by the air forces of Israel, Saudi Arabi and even Japan, and, with almost 30 years service, the F-15 is the world's leading operational air superiority and interceptor.
Steve Davies and Doug Dildy draw on a vast array of sources including combat records, technical documents, and unpublished first-hand accounts from the pilots themselves to tell the story of this amazing plane, detailing such incredible feats as the Israeli F-15 which was successfully landed despite losing a wing. Containing over 100 breathtaking color photographs and comprising detailed technical information, this definitive history and guide to the world's most successful jet fighter is a "must have" for anyone interested in modern aviation. A wonderful study piece on the light gray Eagle! | Customer Rating: | One previous reviewer commented on the lack of "love" for the Mud Hen. To be fair, while the Mud Hen is most definately part of the Eagle family, it is not the aircraft that made the F-15 famous.
This book is the book that you give either the lover of the F-15, for the stories and photos..or the novice who needs a good "do all" book on the Eagle.
Being blessed with living in a state with two F-15 units, I see them often enough, but this book doesnt do the F-15 justice! | great pictures! | Customer Rating: | | My son who is 13 yrs old loves this book and so do his friends. Beautiful pics but very heavy book. | Without question, the absolute best book written on the Eagle | Customer Rating: | | This book packs a punch -- well written and an excellent compilation of historical data. Steve Davies and Doug Dildy have truly produced the finest book ever written on the world's greatest air superiority fighter. All Eagle Drivers need a copy of this book. | The ultimate F-15 book | Customer Rating: | The Boeing F-15 Eagle was unquestionably the world's most capable fighter from the late '70s until the entry into service of the new "3.5-4 generation" aircrafts in the last years, and Steve Davies has done a great job of describing its technologies, development and service with the USAF and other air forces around the world. Breaking the tradition set by earlier generations of USAF "jack of all trades" jets (primary the F-4 Phantom), the Eagle was designed uncompromisingly to meet the demanding USAF's requirements as a pure air superiority fighter to counter the treat of the new Soviet MiGs, becoming only later a true multimission- strike aircraft with the -E model. Short of a set of pilots notes and supported by a wealth of superb photography, Steve Davies provides the reader with just about all there is to know about what is justifiably claimed to be the world's most successful jet fighter. I just hope to see more title like this from the Osprey Publishing in the future. | Arguably the Best Book on the World's Greatest Air Superiority Fighter | Customer Rating: | | This is the best book I have seen on the mighty F-15 Eagle. I "must have" for any fighter aircraft enthusiast. |
